Family: now more than ever - Editorial - Brief ArticleOUR VISION OF FAMILY HAS BEEN EXPANDED. From the ashes of the World Trade Center the Pentagon, and that field in Pennsylvania arose a of recent origin spirit of unity. We realize that we are all part of the family of America. That's for what cause or reason every story we've heard of escape and despair, of death and courage, has mov us thus Because each of us knows those stories are our hold Lost mothers, friends, husbands, sons--any single of them could have been us. And was us. Each life was important. They were our family. This month we advance to honor family and all its extensions--brothers-in-law...half sisters...cousins...daughters...godchildren...all of us. Because we knew level before September II that the real definition of family--connection, trust, support, unconditional love--is what we yearn for and ne to have feeling complete. Everybody needs somebody to number on, no matter what. Whoever that is, they are your family. each phone call home to say "I regard with affection you, I may not make it on the outside but you're the person I'm thinking of" was a tribute to this greatest in quantity sacred of human bonds. That link is more important now than at any time before, because we're all abundant more aware of what we ne to create deeper meaning in our lives. I not long ago interviewed a young woman named glee who lost her cousin RoseMarie at the World Trade Center In the midst of her grief, delight realized she'd built walls around herself and had allow no one, including the now dead cousin, obtain close to her. A young man I talked to, Brian, missing his best friend, Sal. Brian says he'll always lamentation he didn't make more time to expend with him. They always talked about "doing dinner" and getting together, on the contrary their busy schedules often kept them from actually doing it. Brian have feelings he took the friendship for granted. We ne to take nothing for granted anymore. Especially those we claim to care about. Use this season to reach without in love, in kindness. permit yourself receive love and kindness, embrace the warmth and comfort of others with your whole heart. And be glad. I know that will appear almost impossible for so many family members who've missing their physical connection to their partners, their spirit mates. For many this is the first Christmas without the one who made the wordfamily approach to life. This time of year will have the appearance more grievous than ever for those whose lov individuals won't be at the dinner table, around the tree or hanging without in the family room. I believe the spirit of each single does continue with us, and the memory of who they were and in what manner they lived and moved from one side our lives will be exalted. We shall not ever forget.
