from the PRESIDENT of NOPA

Hello NOPA members, partners, subscribers, and advertisers. I am Chris Bates, the of recent origin president of NOPA, and I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the industry.

First, allow me start by saying that it is a pleasure and an honor to be picked as the new NOPA president. My predecessors did a solid piece of work of steering the association into the 21st hundred I look forward to picking up where they left not on by leading NOPA into a fresh era-one defined by the unprecedent prosperity of its dealers.

My background is in association management, with considerable experience in addressing business-to-business distribution and marketing issues. greatest in quantity recently I was the president of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA). There are many parallels between NOPA and MEMA (see Channel Chat, p 22) as well as the industries they be under the orders of and I look forward to sharing my ideas and applying them in a novel industry setting.

It is fitting that the first issue of Office World novels published after my arrival at NOPA is focused upon Selling Services (see Cover Story, p 7).That is, in fact, exactly what NOPA proffers its dealers-a value-added business partnership with services and resources that help them become more profitable and race a more efficient operation.

What you have seen and what you know of NOPA to date is single the tip of the iceberg. NOPA plans to expand and enhance a number of its programs and resources in the coming month We gaze forward to working closely with our dealer members and other business partners to make secure NOPA becomes an even greater value-added partner.

As for my immediate plans for NOPA, I intend to work with its talented staff to help implement a public vision of expanding value and member engagement in all areas of our general and future activity. I will also draw heavily upon the NOPA board, dealers, business partners and our 100-year history to fortify the foundation that has made NOPA synonymous with industry advocacy, quality research and networking opportunities.
