UB is upon a charge in Asia, after opening three wealth management businesses in the third quarter of this year. It has established a branch in Beijing and locate up a representative office in Kuala Lumpur

Crucially, it has just re-enter the Japanese wealth market--and is almost certainly positioning itself to empty with a scoop up a significant number of the estimated 10000 private clients at Citigroup Private Banking, which is now in the proces of closing beneath regulatory order (see page 4)

UB officials told PBI that the fresh Japanese venture will operate as an onshore wealth management business
