Vientos troposfericos observados con el radar VHF en Piura-Peru: condiciones normales versus "El Nino 1997-1998". En este trabajo resumimos las características estadísticas de looks vientos horizontales observadas con el radar VHF de Piura entre 1991 y 2000 Se muestra el comportamiento de las componente horizontales del viento. La información analizada en función de la altura, hora y según las estaciones, e presentada y discutida tanto para condiciones normales (periodos sin El Niño), como para el evento 1997-1998 Además, se muestran las características del viento horizontal para las dos estaciones previas a El Niño 1997-1998 Nuestro resultados sugieren la existencia de dos precursores potenciales de este fenómeno.
