Editorial

As this editorial is written, we have complet about eight weeks upon the job and so have feelings of great anticipation and trepidation! Anticipation because we believe that CJAS plays a vital part in our scholarly community and previous editors-in-chief have built a actual strong foundation for development. Trepidation because managing a journal calls for multiple skills, adherence to strict deadlines, and financial discipline. Moreover, we are conscious of the ne to contend for the attention of readers, authors, and reviewers alike.

In presenting our case to the search committee that was struck to find a novel home for CJAS, we spoke of our views about the journal and in what manner it might be developed in the time to come Now is the time to share those views and plans with you. Our starting point is the view that CJAS is important to Canadian academics in the administrative sciences. CJAS has assumed a significant position because it provides a logical dissemination vehicle for research that is Canadian in its approach and/or application. It would be a mistake, however, to give the impression that CJAS is narrowly "Canadian" in its satisfied Nothing could be further from the truth: CJAS has always included articles upon issues with broader implications, as well as genuinely theoretical papers. Another feature of CJAS is that, in contrast to the single disciplinary orientation of greatest in quantity journals, it welcomes contributions from all quarters of the administrative sciences, and especially articles that make corporeal an interdisciplinary approach. In light of the composed of several elements nature of today's world, we diocese this is a very positive characteristic.

Given that CJAS be under the orders ofs our community in an important and auspicious fashion, our strategy will be individual of enhancement rather than radical change. This can be achieved, in our minds, by means of (1) continuing to emphasize the journal's distinctive easy in mind (2) soliciting more and stronger manuscripts, and (3) reducing publication leadtimes further. We are committed to working hard to achieve these goals. The editorial office of CJAS is now firmly established at Dalhousie University where Janet Lord manages the journal upon a day-to-day basis. We are in the proces of reviewing a certain number of of the policies and operations of the journal, and will report these changes as and when these be found

As CJAS penetrates a new phase in its history, recognition is owed in several quarters. A major devoted of thanks is extended to Concordia University, which provided the editorial dwelling for CJAS between 1991 and 1999 sum of two units of its senior faculty members-Dr. Baba and Dr Jalilvand-served as editor-in-chief during this period. Concordia's commitment to, and support for CJAS is greatly appreciated. We should also recognize the area editors and reviewers whose work has already struck us as true fair and thoughtful. Finally, we wish to thank editorial assistant Lucille Hreha whose help was invaluable in making the propel of the CJAS office to Dalhousie almost painless.

We would also like to thank Professor Jacques Barrette for his volume review efforts. The last sum of two units issues of CJAS have contained his substantial two-part review of Gestion de paradoxes daps le organisations : Tomes 1-8

This is the final issue of CJAS edited by means of Abol Jalilvand. CJAS owes him a large liability of gratitude for his first-rate work over the last three years. We reliance to build on his hardy leadership in the months and years ahead.
