ATSB RESEARCH GRANTS

The Australian Transport Safety Research Bureau (ATSB)'s Road Safety Research Grants Programme capitals one-off research projects suggested through the community. It complements the ATSB's targeted research program and plays a part in encouraging researchers from a broad range of scientific disciplines to consider road safety research.

The Road Safety Research Grants Programme has discloseed over many years. Each year, grants of up to $25000 (including GST) are made available for original and worthwhile road safety research shoot forwards that can be completed within 12 month The competition for the Road Safety Research Grants is usually real keen. Applications for the 2005 grants shut on February 25, 2005.

Applications are invited from Australasian academic research institutions, commercial or community-based organisations. While applications from established researchers in the field of road safety are welcome, the objective of increasing the number of novel researchers in the field will be a factor when selecting shoot forwards Collaboration between established road safety researchers and other researchers, organisations or individuals is encouraged as a way of meeting this objective.

Project are assessed upon several criteria:

* scientific merit;

* potential benefit to road safety in Australia;

* require to be paid [i]or[/i] undergone of the project;

* autonomy of the project; and

* the capabilities and professional standing of the applicant and chief investigator
