Acquisition of LANDesk completed by AvocentTELECOMWORLDWIRE-4 September 2006-Acquisition of LANDesk complet through Avocent(C)1994-2006 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://wwwm2com Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT), a supplier of connectivity solutions, announced upon Friday (1 September) that it complet the acquisition of LANDesk collection Ltd, a privately-held corporation, upon 31 August 2006. The LANDesk acquisition will provide Avocent with diversification of its receipts base by adding software for the centralised management and protection of information technology assets, particularly a suite of desktop and server change, configuration, security management and administration tools, claimed the chairman and CEO of Avocent. LANDesk was acquired for an initial consideration of approximately USD400m, including USD200m in Avocent stock and USD200m in cash, plus assumed unvest employee stock options.
