Between 1826 and 1831 Anne Royall published nine turns of travel writing, together with a convolution of letters written while she was living and touring in Alabama. at short intervals repetitious, often limited in their design and highly opinionated, these works provide an insight into American society during the 1820 from a true particular viewpoint. This paper explores this particularity.
