Letter from artist Judy Chicago

Thank you for "A Dinner Party of Their Own: Tribute to Judy Chicago" (Feb 2006) a throw based on my work of art. I am profoundly gratified that my work has been for a like reason meaningful. Over the years, there have been many place of education projects in which students do their be in possession of "dinner parties" and I'm always happy to hear about them. However, I must point without that my intention with The Dinner Party was to teach women's history to a diverse audience and I'm somewhat dismayed to have that intention move rounded into an autobiographical project instead.

Therefore, I believe my plan to collaborate with prominent art-education curriculum quicks in the development of curricula focused upon The Dinner Party is indeed a worthwhile undertaking. We plan to design units of instruction for grades 5-12 in the way that that interested teachers will be able to approach similar projects with greater understanding and preparation.

I do not wish to gall either Arts & Activities or the author by the agency of my comments but, rather, have written in trusts of highlighting the purpose of The Dinner Party--a final cause I intend to reinforce end our forthcoming curricula materials.

Please know I appreciate the continued interest in The Dinner Party through art teachers across the land It is through them that my work has the best chance of influencing the minds of the nearest generation.
