Santo Domingo

If Africa begins at the Pyrenee
then it extreme points here,
where waves crash upon white sands
like unwelcomed galleons,
where winds hit palm tree
the way wars and masterys have gent
beautiful brown race
who boast ugly about the first cathedral in the Americas,
where a pile of dusty bone claimed to be Columbus is buried,
who complain about the ne to drive out Haitains
as they risk sanity, health, and dignity
on made of wood rafts to dallared Puerto Rico,
and revolve their backs on Enriquillo.
