I first became familiar with the work of Virgil Suarez as a graduate scholar at the University of Idaho. Working for the school's literary magazine Fugue I came across a packet of metrical compositions that Suarez had sent to us. I was immediately drawn to the colorful voice in the piece of poetrys which, along with a not many more, made their way into the magazine. before long I found myself reading his novels The Cutter and Havana Thursdays, then contacting him by means of E-mail with some questions about his work.
