Nicholson earns Editorial Excellence awardBoatU.S. at handed its prestigious Monk Farnham Award for Editorial transcendence to former Offshore magazine editor, Darrell Nicholson, Feb 17 during the annual meeting of Boating Writers International. Nicholson was cited for his "From the Helm" round pillar that appeared in the northeast regional boating monthly magazine during 2005 BoatU.S. Senior Vice President Michael Sciulla neared the award to Nicholson noting that the award recognizes editors of boating and fishing magazines who have a passion for boating, a crusading spirit and a willingness to use their editorial page to lead the debate upon issues facing the recreational boating community. Established in 1996 the award consists of a handcrafted memorial of conquest depicting a quill pen drawing inspirational "ink" from a series of rolling waves as well as a check for $1000 The late Monk Farnham chaired the BoatU.S. National Advisory Council for many years, was a world record-holding sailor and former editor of Rudder and Boating.
