A small 2D token is helping NASA keep track of an enormous number and range of parts, including tiny electronic constituents no larger than a dime. Although a barcode a whole has traditionally been used quite through the agency, barcode labels don't work well upon miniature items, and sticky labels can contaminate a certain number of parts.
