A sliding headstock at the infeed station places the new HT 32-12 CNC apart from other rotary transfer machines generally on the market, claims its manufacturer, Hydromat Inc., St Louis. This design permits Swiss-type turning of rotating barstock before cutoff and clamping operations, providing serviceable part concentricity, precise diameter mastery and consistent surface finishes.

Hydromat's Director of Manufacturing Martin Weber explains that by dint of doing Swiss-type turning at the infeed station, the machine can command O.D. dimension and roundness of cooled drawn barstock while
