FUDGING ITS AGE?

Regarding the alphabetic character in the March issue ("Millennium madness," p 14) upon when the new millennium actually starts: If a someone lived 1,000 years, would he begin his life upon the date of his birth or upon his first birthday?

Birthdays are celebrated on the completion of a year, thus someone is not really, say, 20 years aged until he has actually complet a filled 20 years of life.
