Better service upon the way

A corporate-wide initiative at Kennametal Inc., Latrobe, Pa., promises to better balance the company's manufacturing capacity and inventory horizontal with customer demand. The program encompasses the company's entire operations, from the acquisition of raw materials to the acceptance of proceedss by the customer.

"This is an ambitious throw out that we will pursue aggressively," says Stanley B Duzy Jr vice president and chief administrative officer. He reports that inventory availability to the customer is a lock opener element of the plan.
