A novel type of abrasive product, Engineered Abrasives, has been introduced through Norton Co., Worcester, Mass. According to the company, the abrasives, which are designed for metal finishing applications, outperform other marks of coated abrasives in bounds of life, cut rate, surface finish, and stock removal efficiency.

Coated abrasive cropss usually come in two types: conventional abrasives or aggregates. Conventional abrasives consist of a backing to which a single layer of abrasive grain is arranged randomly and fasteninged by an adhesive. The riddle says Norton, is that this
