As part of routine overhaul and repair, many aircraft engine constitutings
experience wear and must be restored to their original dimensions
for fit, function, and performance.

Manufacturers repeatedly restore these parts by applying a thermal spray
to build up the worn part surface. Machining or grinding then brings
the deposit to specified dimensional tolerances and surface finish.
