Respirator selection: sifting through the NIOSH standard. (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health)

00-00-0000

After more than 20 years, the National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health (NIOSH) is updating its respirator certification standard
to mirror new testing methods and filter technologies. The standard
establishes revised experiment performance criteria for all negative crushing
particulate air-purifying respirators, filters, and prefilters. These
respirators are widely used to help patronize workers from hazardous
particles generated by dint of operations such as metal finishing, polishing,
grinding, deburring, painting, and welding.

The fresh standard, commonly known as 42 CFR
