Aerospace subcontractor Precision Profiling Inc., Wichita, Kans., one time
needed 60 days to machine individual heat-treated PH15-5 stainless steel
hingefitting for a Boeing aircraft, on the other hand now the same fitting takes
only three weeks. Among the greatest in quantity complex parts manufactured by the
firm, the fitting used to require eight elaborate setup upon several
3-axis machines to make an incision in all the necessary contours. Now, says company
president and proprietor Curtis Kempton, the shop machines each fitting
complete in just sum of two units simple setups on any individual of its four Milacron
five-axis machines, which consist of
