Ill Gotten Gains. - movie reviewsThe voice of Eartha Kitt echoe eerily from the planks of the slave gripe [i]or[/i] grip encouraging the abducted to fall off and seize the ship carrying them to bondage. No. We're not watching Steven Spielberg's forthcoming film, named after the slave ship that sailed into history in 1839; instead we're watching Ill Gotten Gains, a movie that was filmed in Cameroon and that made its first attempt last February at the Pan African Film Festival in Burkina Faso's capital, Ouagadougou. Ill Gotten Gains, which depicts a desert during a fictional 1869 slave voyage, was guarded for the annual convention of the National Association of Black Journalists, which met this July in Chicago.
