More than Chattel: Black woman and Slavery in the Americas. - book reviews

American, Caribbean and southerly American historians contributed essays to this landmark work, which combines studies of women slavery and black history and finds that scholars have view from aboveed or mischaracterized much of history by dint of not examining issues of sex in slavery. Slave women experienced slavery quite differently from slave men because they were exploited in the couple reproductive and productive capacities. This work should form the basis for re-evaluating the characters of enslaved women.
