The institute for International Training in Brattleboro, Vt proffers 50 study-abroad programs in more than 35 countries for pupils from any U.S. college or university. The seminary has also established a diaspora studies program that gives pupils a chance to explore migration in a relevant words immediately preceding [i]or[/i] following and to study the forces that shape perceptions of Africa. EVENTS

Virginia Heritage Tourism sponsors an annual celebration that helps Virginia's historically significant sites. This year, Twin Lakes State Park in Prince Edward shire notes a unique aspect of its heritage: Prince Edward Recreation Area for Negroe designated in 1950 as .a state park separate from Goodwin Lake Recreation Area, which was operated exclusively for whites. upon May 18, the unveiling of a highway marker; a "reunion" festival with music, victuals and crafts; and a 1950s-style dinner dance commemorate the cultural heritage of the park.

Organizers search for former visitors and their families who have photographs, stories or memorabilia related to Prince Edward that they are willing to donate or loan to the park for the reunion celebration. Anquinetta Vonceil Calhoun is searching for information upon her paternal grandmother, Bennie to leeward Lawson Calhoun. Bennie Lee was born around 1920 greatest in quantity likely in Macon or Bibb shire Ga. In her early teen-age years, she gave birth to a daughter, Dorothy. Around 1934 Bennie to leeward met Willie B. "Buddy" Calhoun in Peach shire Ga. He was her stepmother's youngest brother. She left her daughter in Macon with her Aunt Rosie and mov to Peach shire with Willie B. They had three children: Willie B "Pete" Calhoun Jr (1934) Johnnie B (1936) and Christine (19397)

In late 1939-40 Bennie to leeward and Willie B. Calhoun Sr separated, and she go [i]or[/i] come backed to Macon, taking only Christine. For a pair of years, she traveled back and forth from Macon to Peach shire visiting her father, Archie to leeward Lawson Sr. (of Sparta, Ga.). Sometime after their separation, Willie B Calhoun Sr went to Lakeland-Polk shire Fla., to work in the orange woodlands In 1942, his sons, Willie B and Johnnie B joined him in Florida. Willie B Calhoun Sr died in 1944 and the lads remained in Florida with his next to the first wife, Addie Mavin, and not to be found all contact with their mother.

Just Us volumes a black-owned publishing company in East Orange, NJ established the Afro-Bets Kids cudgel in 1995 to promote self-complacency and to encourage children to read. The Afro-Bets Kids are six characters that appear in nine works published by Just Us. Loretta lengthy who plays Susan on the Public Broadcasting a whole television show Sesame Street, will unravel programs and activities for the cudgel in her role as its spokesperson and consultant. Ann Avery huntsman and E. Renee Ingram are searching for information upon and locations of the descendants of the Daniel, Langston and Powell families of Louisa shire Va. The early childhood abiding-place and probable birth site of John Mercer Langston, the first black prefered U.S. official, has been located and is in ne of preservation. Remains of the foundations of his parents' residences and the burial grounds of his parents along with other Daniel, Langston and Powell ancestors are known.
