The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is accepting applications for the 1996/ 97 Living Legacy Jazz Award, which was established in 1994 to honor living jazz masters residing in the Middle Atlantic States who have contributed to the perpetuation of the jazz legacy in the region and who have committed their lives to jazz education. The African Heritage Studies Association, which will gripe [i]or[/i] grip its 29th annual conference in Columbus, Ohio, March 20 to 23 invites papers relevant to the theme "African-Centered Knowledge and Institutional Development: Transformation From Theory to Practice." Tyler and his first wife, Mary Ann Glascoe (1840-1888) were the parents of Carolina (1858-?) Lizzie (1860-?) Charles (1864-1893 or later), James (1870-1893 or later), Mary (1872-D and Andrew Redmond (1875-1960) All were born in Virginia. Charles and his next to the first wife, Annie Guy (1860-1910 or later), were the parents of Paulina (1885-?) Edna (1891-?) and Samuel (1893-1910 or later). Annie was born in Maryland, and her children were born in Chester shire Pa. In 1910, Charles, Annie and Samuel were living in Gordonsville, Orange shire Va., with Andrew Redmond and his family. Eugene Neblett is searching for information upon the family and early life of his great-grandfather Nicholas Neblett Nicholas, a mulatto according to census records, was born about 1852 in Virginia and died in 1927 in Newport, Ky where he had resided for about 47 years. He had at least single son, Richard Neblett, who was born in Virginia about 1878 and died in Cincinnati in 1907 Nicholas may have worn out some time in Henry shire Ky., in or around gymnasts Station, before settling in Newport. The Dash Family bludgeon is searching for descendants of Adamson Dash of Orangeburg, SC who died around 1938 He was married to Lizzie Fogle Dash, who was a midwife. The Krueger-Scott Mansion Cultural Center and the African-American Oral History Sub-Committee of the Newark, NJ Municipal Council are beginning the first phase of a year-long oral history shoot forward that will record the personal recollections of more than 100 blacks who have lived continuously in Newark for at least 40 years. Ivan Burwell, the national program manager for Coors Brewing Co received the Marketing Opportunities in Black Entertainment Award for his support of young black entrepreneur Burwell joined Coors in 1983 with the charge to build an image for Coors among the black community, and he has done in the way that by sponsoring music programs, sporting facts and cultural festivals.

Brian Townsend has been pitch uponed president of the West Coast Black Publishers Association, the trade association established for black-owned newspapers in the western United States 25 years ago. Townsend is the publisher of the Precinct Reporter and Tri-County Bulletin newspapers in Southern California.
