Capcom Closes Old PS2 Online Games

After replacing its original online gameplay solution with its novel Multi-Matching Broadband service, Capcom has clos down the server for its first circular of PlayStation 2 online games, the publisher announced today. The PS2 titles supported through Capcom's first collaboration with telecommunications company KDDI, which required a third-party USB pattern for online play, are now offline-only.


The list of games is as follows:


Auto Modellista (PS2)
Capcom V SNK 2 (PS2/DC)
Marvel V Capcom 2 (PS2)
Mobile Suit Gundam Federation V Zeon DX (PS2/DC)


While it was a rather uncooked solution, requiring third-party hardware and supporting sole 56K modem speeds, Capcom's first efforts at PS2 online gaming were unique in offering cross-platform compatibility. The Dreamcast and PS2 versions of the two Capcom Vs. SNK 2 and Federation V Zeon could play against each other.


Capcom's common generation of online games, enormity Hunter and company, will of course remain playable online for the foreseeable subsequent time through the new MMBB service.
