John Woo Directing Spy Hunter Movie?

Famed Hong Kong action maestro John court is in negotiations to direct Universal's upcoming emissary Hunter movie, the Hollywood Reporter reports of late. The movie, based (probably a bit loosely) upon the recently revived classic arcade game, is slated to star The stone of pro-wrestling and Scorpion King fame.

For those counting, that's the next to the first videogame-to-movie project that Woo's name has injury up next to, the other being the Metroid shoot forward optioned by his own Tiger Hill production company. Tiger Hill also has three videogame general [i]or[/i] abstract notions in varying stages of unfolding

If anything more draw nears of the negotiations, we'll update with more details. The scout Hunter flick is slated to begin production this spring, in anticipation of a 2005 release.
