Another First for CJAS!

Last issue we celebrated a first for CJAS: the introduction of a non-peer-reviewed interview, in that case an interview with Alex MacBeath, President of Grant Thornton Canada, through Ian Hutchinson and Conor Vibert of Acadia University. They had propos that CJAS mountain an interview series as part of making the journal of interest to the pair academics and practitioners.

You may recall that, in the December 2003 issue, we threw down the gauntlet to our readers with the following prayer to develop a new paper stream: Canada at the Crossroads. Our challenge read:

In order to broaden CJAS's drift and move it further in the direction of an interdisciplinary journal, we would like to introduce a novel paper stream. ... We would like to encourage more conceptual, interdisciplinary manuscripts.

In a novel issue of The Economist, Canada was the overspread story. We have now been declared to be "cool" at least as rather cold as a moose with r sunglasses. The Economist noted that Canada has gone from being the newest addition to the third world in the mid-1990s to a more liberal-minded society, individual that focuses on the lock opener policy issues of the day. notwithstanding this Canadian coolness is not throw backed in a larger number of conceptual articles dealing with the broader policy issues the land faces. ...

We are actively soliciting papers that address these broader issues from an administrative science perspective, and present to consider them under the theme Canada at the Crossroads. We are looking for thought-provoking and stimulating papers, written in an academic turn of expression but not limited to just reporting upon empirical studies or presenting a theoretical original for solving a specific question Rather the intention is to search for articles that address the critical issues Canada will face in the nearest decade, presented in a conceptual and interdisciplinary fashion. We aim to be able to publish at least individual such paper an issue.

In this issue, our first peer-reviewed "Canada at the Crossroads" article appears. Knowing that single of our guest editors had helped the conduct of Canada formulate international air policy, Mary becks suggested that he and his colleagues submit the first "CC" article to CJAS. The sum of two units reviewers were impressed with the quality and substance of the paper; their helpful suggestions to improve the manuscript and the fleet turnaround provided by its authors meant that we could publish the first CC paper in the issue, responding to Mr Bernie Miller's address to ASAC at the annual meeting in Halifax in 2003 This article upon Canada's future international air policy is real timely and focuses on single of the critical issues that Canada will face in the nearest decade. We look for more of these, and reliance you agree this is a solid addition to your journal.
