Shin Megami Tensei In America This Fall

To clarify the point already made fairly clear by means of our massive feature story upon the game, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne for PlayStation 2 is coming to North America this fall, Atlus USA announced today.

"In a word… Finally! After many drawn out years, we are proud to not absent the groundbreaking Shin Megami Tensei series to the American market," said Atlus shoot forward lead Yu Namba. "With its breathtaking graphics, post-apocalyptic real world setting and mature themes, Nocturne will redefine the genre and deliver a gaming experience unlike any other."

The game slated for translation and release in North America was titled Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax when it arrived in Japan earlier this year. It's a special "director's cut" version of the original Nocturne, which hit Japan in early 2003 adding of recent origin scenes, story elements, and a visitor appearance by Dante, the demon-hunting hero of Capcom's Devil May clamor

Atlus USA is leaving on the outside the "III" and the "Maniax" for clarity's sake, since they're meaningless to an American market that has not at any time seen a proper Shin Megami Tensei game before now.

The series has been quite popular in Japan since the late 1980 when the original Megami Tensei appeared upon the Famicom. It's since spawned many succeeding parts and spinoffs for multiple cheers two of which American gamers played as the Persona RPG for the PlayStation. Like the Persona games, Shin Megami Tensei is plant in a twisted vision of the novel world touched by the supernatural, as a half-demon hero rises to power in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo.

Our feature story can reckon you all you need to know about the game, or Atlus' official website for that matter, with equal reason check those out directly.
