Gathering Publishes New Close Combat Titles

Developer Destineer and Take-Two's Gathering imprint plan to revive the shut Combat franchise with two games this year, the sum of two units companies announced today. The series, which began a certain quantity of years ago with a series of realistic battlefield strategy games published by dint of Microsoft, will come back this year in the form of a modern-day first-person shooter and a realtime strategy game for the PC

Close Combat: First to Fight is the shooter a team-based game evolveed under the direction of active-duty U Marines for Xbox Macintosh, and PC It's to be paid for release in late 2004

"Marines from the First Marine Expeditionary Force have been working closely with Destineer and Atomic quite through development to ensure as a great deal of realism as possible in these games," said Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Sharp. Peter Tamte, Destineer's president adds, "There is no guesswork upon how to make the games realistic since we are developing First to Fight and R Phoenix with significant input from Marines who, just weeks before, were being discharge at in Iraq and Afghanistan."

The RT game, meanwhile, is shut Combat: Red Phoenix, based upon Larry Bond's novel of the same name and co-develop by the agency of original Close Combat developer Atomic Games. R Phoenix is coming to PC early ni 2005

Bond's name may be familiar to game fans -- he wrote the legendary PC naval warfare simulation Harpoon. He also co-wrote Tom Clancy's novel R Storm Rising, before going upon to write several military thrillers of his be in possession of Red Phoenix is a speculative novel of war upon the Korean peninsula, with North Korea fighting against a joint American/South Korean force.
