Magic Pengel Sequel Announced

Taito's Garakuta Studio has a succeeding part to the cult hit Magic Pengel in the works for PlayStation 2 the developer announced today. although the original game, called Rakugaki Oukoku in Japan, wasn't a smash hit upon either side of the water, an official promotional site is slated to first attempt on April 9.

Magic Pengel as it was called when Agetec released it in North America last year, is a handy twist on the traditional breed-and-battle monster-raising simulation. Using a basic paint program and more [i]or[/i] less simple animation tools, it give permission to players design their own wonders with attributes that varied according to the creator's art turn of expression

The new game is tentatively titled Rakugaki Oukoku 2 or "Scribbling Kingdom 2" and that title is about all Taito is willing to reveal online. The latest issue of Famitsu Weekly features a not many more details, however -- the continuation is an action-RPG, unlike its predecessor, with realtime battles and keep exploration sequences as your doodles hazard through monster-filled caves. The diction is a bit darker than the brightly-colored original game, although Studio Ghibli veteran Yoshiharu Sato remains in the support of art director.
