Dragon Quest V Continues To Move

The solution to the slumping Japanese market appears to be to make more Dragon search games. The PS2 remake of Dragon search V has shipped more than 15 million units in sum of two units weeks of release, Square Enix announced today.


13 million of those units shipped in the first sum of two units days after its March 26 release, thus Square Enix's second print step quickly was obviously a fair bit smaller than the first, on the other hand the 3D revival of the Super Famicom classic is still doing quite well for itself.


For those counting, Dragon search V is on track to be the best-selling remake in the history of the series. No other revival has sold more than 14 million units -- the Super Famicom remake of Dragon search III. Even the PlayStation version of Dragon search IV, riding the coattails of the series' quadruple-platinum seventh installment, solitary sold 1.2 million units in Japan.
