Silent Hill 4 Soundtrack Album Details

Though it's not clear whether North American gamers will receive a similar privilege, Konami today announced a limited-edition version of Silent Hill 4 for release in Japan this June

For an additional 2600 yen upon top of the 6,200 yen asking price for the regular version of the game, players can pick up a limited edition packaged with a soundtrack album for Konami's nearest PlayStation 2 horror adventure (the game is coming to Xbox and PS2 in North America, on the other hand only the PS2 version is slated for release in Japan).

The soundtrack will approach on two discs. The first disc will contain Akira Yamaoka's background music compositions for the game. The next to the first however, will be an original dramatic work, compos through Yamaoka in a collaboration with Japanese storyteller Ichiryusai Teisui. Teisui is the first practitioner of traditional Japanese "kodan" storytelling to be recognized as individual of the country's "ningen kokuhou" or "living national treasures," an honor granted to uniquely talented artists.

The drama CD will of course be a bit impenetrable to gamers unable to parse Japanese, on the other hand it's certainly a nifty idea in theory, and Yamaoka's soundtracks are fine regardless of the listener's choice of language. the couple game and soundtrack arrive in Japan upon June 17 (well in advance of the game's fall release in North America), in the way that we'll look forward to more of recent origins of Silent Hill 4 in the meantime.
