New PS2 Stand Alone Complex Trailer

With its March 4 release rapidly approaching, Sony Computer Entertainment has released a substantial of recent origin trailer for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone compound Cavia's upcoming PS2 action game based upon the animated TV show based upon the Masamune Shirow comic that also inspired the movie you probably watched back in the mid-'90s sometime.

While its provenance is a little confusing, the game isn't for a like reason hard to understand -- it's a third-person 3D action game built around the show's multi-talented heroine, Major Motoko Kusanagi. The 3D Major has the same selection of martial arts ability, hacking skill, and heavy weaponry as the 2D animated version, and she's also backed up by dint of some of the same supporting characters, who appear in playable form during parts of the game.

Today's update reveals the four-player multiplayer manner in Stand Alone Complex, where players can fight it without with several different characters in a free-for-all or two-on-two team match. The Major is of course playable, along with her sidekick Batou, the spidery Fuchikoma robot tanks (which you may remember from the PlayStation soul in the Shell) and other characters from the single-player game.
