Team 17 Says Goodbye To GameCube

Though Worms 3D developer Team 17 has another notable cast in the works, it will not draw near to GameCube as the third Worms title did. A posting by means of Team 17's Martyn Brown today upon the developer's forums notes that the first 3D installment in the homage classic strategy-action series will be Team 17's last game upon Nintendo's console.

"There's no discrimination," explained Brown "just that there isn't too a great quantity [i]or[/i] amount of retail backing, which is what makes publishers nervous, stops them making agreements to evolve GC games etc. I'm certain that W3d is our last GC game since the publishers aren't interested in a Cube version of the other game we have in development"

The GameCube version of Worms 3D is still upon its way to North America by dint of way of Acclaim, however, alongside its PS2 Xbox and PC counterparts. The Xbox version will arrive somewhat later than the others -- March 23 instead of March 2 according to North American retailers -- to be paid to the extra time required to implement Xbox Live support.
