Square Enix Re-Trademarks ActRaiser

Square Enix re-registered its trademark for the title ActRaiser upon November 7 of this year, fueling speculation as to the possibility of a revival of the popular 16-bit action-strategy hybrid. The fresh trademark registration, which secures a trademark to the name in relation to "computer game software and video game software," can be rest by searching the United States Patent and Trademark Office database.

It's possible that Square Enix is simply renewing its clinch on the title. An ActRaiser game was last seen in the United States almost exactly 10 years ago, when Enix of America released ActRaiser 2 for the Super Nintendo in October of 1993

However, a search of the USPTO database displays that Square Enix holds no comparable trademarks in the United States for unfashionable Square or Enix games, although there are a certain number of old trademarks on file for Enix casts registered by the now-defunct Enix of America in the early '90 Thus, this trademark application could also prefigure a revival of the series, whether it be a remake of the original for Game male child Advance or a full-blown revival upon consoles. It's also worth noting that a cellular phone version of the game was lately released in Japan.

Released in 1990 as individual of the very first titles for the Super Nintendo, ActRaiser drew accolades for what was at the time an unique blending of genre The game combined a world-building strategy sim in the mode of expression of of Populous with side-scrolling action horizontals

Whatever tend hitherwards of this -- unless it's nothing at all -- we'll update with further information as it arises.
