A Dog's Life: The Autobiography of a Stray by means of Ann M. Martin Scholastic, 2005 244 pp $1699 Dogs/Human Relationships ISBN: 0-439-71559-8

Squirrel understands many things that a dog probably cannot, including human articulate utterance so readers will have to suspend their disbelief in reading this work

Martin's writing is elegant and insightful. The story is realistic, allowing at times disheartening because of in what manner we often treat stray animals. Squirrel stays away from feral dogs when she can, on the other hand she is injured and is fortunate to have a family take her to a vet for surgery Still, these clan leave her behind. Eventually she finds a place of abode with a woman who treats her as a companion.
