Milwaukee Magazine finally came clean above an April 1998 review in
which writer Ann Christenson referr to the son of a Filipino valley
owner as a "rambunctious monkey." After cataclysm of angry letters condemning
the loaded respect (little brown monkey' was a belonging to all ethnic slur
for early Filipino immigrants and U nationals) and the magazine'
initial, tepidly vague apology, the magazine ran a brief account
of the article in July along with quotations from 16 letters. "These
