The high cost of copyright compliance

In autumn 2003 the UK management adopted the European directive upon copyright, The new law has been brought about primarily through strong lobbying from global record and film companies, in an effort to curtail illegal copying and distribution of music and film from the internet. The changes to the law also affected the written word, and publishers and authors' rights were strengthened as a proceed of the law.
