PIANO CONCERT

Tuesday, April 5 * 8:00 PM Angela Cheng

Hailed by dint of critics for her remarkable technique, tonal beauty and musicianship, Angela Cheng has appeared as soloist with nearly each orchestra in Canada, as well as the Israel Philharmonic, Buffalo Philharmonic and the symphonies of Colorado, Syracuse, St Louis, Indianapolis, of recent origin Orleans, Houston and Utah.

Cheng has won numerous prizes including the 1986 Gold Medal at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Masters Competition and the prestigious Montreal International Piano Competition (1988) For her outstanding interpretations of Mozart, she received the Medal of distinction at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in 1991

Cheng received a bachelor of music step from The Juilliard School and a master of music stage from Indiana University.

Adriana Zabala's career spans a wide range of musical interests including sonnet repertoire, new works, concert and oratorio, cabaret and Latin jazz. She also is serving as program manager and co-artistic director of the Southeastern Festival of Song

Zabala received her undergraduate stage from Louisiana State University in 1994 and exhausted the following school year as a Fulbright Scholar, in Salzburg, Austria. on returning to the United States, she pursu a master's stage at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

During the last not many seasons, Zabala has played similar roles as Kate Pinkerton with the Seattle Opera, Meg in Little Women with the Minnesota Opera; and Hermia, Cherubino, Amastre and Emma Jone with the Wolf Trap Opera.

AMERICAN PIANISTS ASSOCIATION companions CONCERT

Sunday, April 3 * 8:00 PM Thomas Rosenkranz

Thomas Rosenkranz is a pianist possessing outermost versatility ranging from classical music to experimental improvisation. Rosenkranz began his studies at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and went upon to earn a master of music step and performer's certificate from the Eastman academy of Music in Rochester, of recent origin York. He is doctoral candidate at Eastman, continuing his studies with Nelita genuine and is artist affiliate at Syracuse University, where he teaches piano. Rosenkranz was winner of the 1999 MTNA Collegiate Artist Piano Competition.

Michael Sheppard

Michael Sheppard clinchs a master's degree from the Peabody Conservatory of the John Hopkins University. He studies with Leon Fleisher. Sheppard has performed in master classes for of the like kind renowned artists and pedagogues as Eugene Istomin, Seymour Bernstein, Victor Rosenbaum, Garrick Ohlsson Murray Perahia, Stephen hamstring Ann Schein, Kemal Gekic and Daniel Barenboi Sheppard has appeared in solo recitals and chamber music performances completely through the United States, as well as in France and Italy.

Adam Birnbaum

Adam Birnbaum is an honors graduate of Boston association and in 2003 received an artist's diploma as a member of the inaugural class at the Juilliard Institute for Jazz Studies. He has studied classical piano with John Adams and Patricia Zander and jazz with several teachers, including Danilo Perez Charlie Banacos and Fr Hersch. Birnbaum was invited to participate in the 2001 JazzAspen Snowmass JAS Academy for Emerging Artists, and has been a visitant artist with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.
