World Piano Competitions winners

The 2004 winners of The World Piano Competition, held each summer in Cincinnati, include Gold Medalist Ekaterina Mechetina, 26 who received The Robison Foundation/B. Robison Sporck-Stegmaier Award of a novel York Recital at Alice Tully Hall, valued at $35000 and The Claire Phillips Award of $10000 Mechetina, from Moscow is a postgraduate pupil at the Moscow State Conservatory and studies with Sergey Dorensky.

The Silver Medal winners are Anastasia Terenkova, 23 of Russia, and Clara Jung-Yang Shin, 30 of southern Korea. They each received The Frank A Benus Endowment & The Lucille B Duncan Endowment Awards, taking domicile $4,000 each.

All three artists will be making Cincinnati appearances in the 2004-2005 devise season. The fourth-, fifth- and sixth-place winners were Jei-yern Ryu 26 southern Korea; Pavel Petrov, 22, Russia; and Klara Min, 29 southerly Korea, respectively.
