Ohio was the first state to adopt the RACE curriculum as its officially endorsed state syllabus in June 2003 Twenty-nine Ohio teachers go intoed students into the first RACE Exams in May 2004 Four OMTA members have graduated into the community of Examiners for the Royal Conservatory of Music Exams and now can management both RCM and RACE exams: Andy Hisey, NCTM; Amy Rose Immerman; Patsy Rabinowitz, NCTM; and Sheila Vail.

Last June Ohio had its twenty-second Annual All-Ohio Piano effect and the event honored Ohio composer Robert Vandall, NCTM with an "all Vandall program." Thirty-two pupils performed solo Vandall pieces with Robert and Karen Vandall, NCTM in the audience during a Saturday evening recital, and 155 scholars performed in piano ensembles upon Sunday afternoon. Twenty pianos were upon stage for this event at Bowling verdant State University. Guest conductors were Robert and Karen Vandall, Christine Steiner, NCTM and Immerman. A musical quilt was made with the first pages of each duet piece performed for this event
