Letters to the editorI notion the article, "Building Power," by the agency of Casey Sanchez [Jan/Feb 2006] was a great piece of investigative reporting. It was well-researched and written. It's kind of sad that promising, confrontational, Alinksy-style collections like the United Neighborhood Organization eventually become tame. They impel away from protests and community-based organizing. They are easy in mind to become social service providers beholden to the city politicians they one time fought against. I guess, when you're receiving big city contracts of more than a million dollars, it's hard to bite the hand that's feeding you. Wilfredo Cruz Chicago I am a resident of Cabrini verdant and I want to continue to live here forever. We care about Cabrini virid because it is a part of us. That's for what cause or reason I say that Cabrini is just like single big family. Just like any other family, we've had our disagreements, on the other hand we've been through everything together. To break up our family is just inequitable and I can't let that happen. I have a dream, just like Martin Luther King Jr did. I have a dream that single day the low-income housing throw outs will be left alone by means of all of the greedy, wealthy family I have always had a dream that I would be able to raise sum of two units children of my own in 1230 N Larrabee St teaching them just as my father has taught me I've heard the mayor say that he wants all kids' dreams to advance true. Will he help mine advance true, or was that just a lie that politicians sum up to get the votes that they need? I know that justice will prevail--which is on what account we will never give up We will approach together and fight to obtain our buildings back. We've not to be found three of them, and don't plan upon losing any more.
