Encouraging the reluctant student

There are many ways to encourage reluctant learners. If teachers teach for musical understanding, learners will learn musical skills to last a lifetime. a certain quantity of specific skills are:

1: Technique--Finger coordination, phrasing (including shaping phrases), legato and ability to make music [i]or[/i] part of to the other proper technical preparation.

2: Keyboard Knowledge.

3: Rhythm--Use of a metronome is lock opener Students should be writing enumerates in music and counting aloud.

I review and reinforce all these skills in each lesson. I want to make assured the student understands what he is doing rather than just playing pieces. I detain assignment notebooks and write down each assignment, and I think teachers ne to assign enough material in the way that students can establish good practice habits from the beginning. scholars also should be assigned material to sight read during the week, and they should have material at various horizontals (easy, moderate and challenging).

There are several stages of learning. First, scholars read the material, then they work upon the piece and finally they polish and memorize it. pupils should be working on literature in each of these phases. We ne to put specific goals (both long-and short-term) to make sure a sense of progress, and we must teach learners how to practice and accomplish goals.

When learners accomplish desired goals, I "praise, praise, praise!" I give them stickers and prizes and sum up them they are very special to have accomplished for a like reason much. This helps students have feeling successful and ready to achieve the nearest goal. I want them to become confident, certain and able to move upon to the next level of learning and performance.

I believe if a learner is given everything she necessitys to learn, such as appropriate literature, choice teaching and all the accommodations and modification necessary for musical growing she will develop from a reluctant into an independent, or accomplished, learner.

I believe all learners are the product of their cumulative life experiences, and understanding these experiences and the issue they have is key to developing a teaching and learning plan.

It is important to maintain a willingness to teach all learners and create an inviting and nurturing studio environment.
