Letter to the editorOur thanks to The Chicago Reporter for giving homeles youths a voice in the article "Seeking Acceptance" [September/October 2005] Teen like Hector ne us to listen and support them as they mature into adulthood. As Amy Rainey reported, this activist assemblage for homeless youths began weekly meetings at the Broadway Youth Center last January. The clump is co-led by the Youth coming times attorney from the Chicago Coalition for the Homeles and by dint of a case manager from The Night Ministry. They try to find venues in which homeless youths can be seen and heard. Among other things, the youths have testified upon the state budget, they have rallied the Lakeview community upon police harassment, and they staged a Nov. 17 arts present to view Street Style. The public had another chance to listen upon Dec. 13, when teens in the activist clump spoke at a statewide talk on youth homelessness at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
