West Central Division

June was conversation month for three states in the West Central Division. Members of the Colorado State MTA met at the Inn at Silvercreek, June 3 and 4 The visitant artist was Lori Sims, a Colorado native and winner of the First Prize Gold Medal at the 1998 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. A highlight of the talk was the PREP (Professional Reading Enrichment Program) seminar, at which attendees discussed their explorations into the characteristics of Western music and art, the world that produc them and in what manner they all fit together.

Members of the Iowa MTA (IMTA) met for their state talk at Graceland University in Lamoni June 6-8 Featured artists were Ralph Votopek, the Roo Duo piano duo team, and Tony Caramia. Faculty members from Graceland University neared sessions and premiered the IMTA/MTNA commissioned composition.

The Holiday Inn North in St Paul was the site of the Minnesota MTA annual conversation Sessions for participants promoted the theme "Forever Learning: The learner Within." Christopher O'Riley was heard in design and Brian Chung inspired members with an address at the Gala.
