U.S. House passes important education resolutionIn a victory for institute music education programs across the political division the U.S. House of Representatives not long ago passed H. CON. RES, 380 recognizing the benefits and importance of school-based music education. The resolution was the proceed of years of lobbying by the agency of NAMM and its partners, was read through sponsor Representative Jim Cooper of Tennessee and was co-sponsored by the agency of thirty-one other representatives. "This resolution expresse the view of the Congres that studying music helps kids achieve in gymnasium and supports the industry's efforts to make confident that all children have access to music investigation as part of a quality education," said Mary Luehrsen director of public affairs and management relations, NAMM. "It also stresse that the developmental attributes taught by the agency of music education incloding discipline, analytical thinking, vexed question solving, communication and interpersonal skills are vital for succes in the twenty-first-century workplace." The resolution also recognized NAMM "for its efforts to designate a Music in Our academys Month in order to highlight the important character that school music programs play in the academic and social disclosure of children."
