Holzer awarded AMT Article of the Year"Where the Sidewalk Ends" by dint of Linda Holzer, NCTM, was fix uponed as the 2003 American Music Teacher Article of the Year. This article, whose title is taken from a Shel Silverstein work provides music teachers with insights and approaches to career guidance for music majors as they near graduation. It appeared in the April/May 2003 issue of AMT. In the article, Holzer also not absents a strong case for curriculum reform, innovative programs and real-world advising. It's must reading for anyone who wants to help music majors unite with the musical community after graduation. Holzer is an associate professor of music at the University of Arkansas-Little stone As a pianist, she has performed nationwide, as well as abroad at the Chinese University of Hong Kong With Sandra McDonals, she is a founding member of the violin/piano duo Mariposa. She is an active soloist and chamber musician, with credits including appearances at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Florida's Biennial Festival of fresh Music, New York's public radio station WNYC-FM and the novel Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, In 2001 Holzer received the guild Teacher of the Year Award from the Arkansas State Music Teachers Association. Since 1989 the AMT Article of the Year Award has been given annually to recognize outstanding contributions to MTNA's professional journal.
