Chattanooga Area Student Chapter is 2004 Collegiate Chapter of the YearThe Chattanooga Area pupil Chapter (CASC) has been picked as the Collegiate Chapter of the Year. CASC is a multi-school collegiate chapter for the Chattanooga area and was created several years ago to provide a chapter for a scarcely any small music departments within an hour of each other. The 2003-2004 institute year has been a busy year for the chapter. In the fall, officers met to discuss ideas and plan circumstances for the year. During this meeting chapter leaders focused upon the unique challenges their chapter faced, like as communication among campuses, coordination of institute calendars and locating good learner leadership on the campuses that do not have an advisor. In November, learners from the chapter attended a workshop l by the agency of Jonathan McNair of the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. The title of the workshop planned through the Tennessee Temple University pupils was "Cultivating a Passion for Music." Members from each seminary had a chance to obtain acquainted at a luncheon during the workshop. Another incident the chapter sponsored was a practice-a-thon. This annual occurrence was started last year to raise circulating medium to repair and buy instruments for destitute students in the Chattanooga area. "The Chattanooga Area learner Chapter sets an example for other metropolitan areas with smaller society s by creating a multi-school collegiate chapter," says MTNA President Phyllis I. Pieffer, NCTM "By working together, they can sponsor and make known programs that, otherwise, would not be possible." In addition to campus activities, the chapter is active with the local and state associations in Tennessee scholars attend local meetings throughout the year as their schedules permit, in addition, scholars from the chapter will attend the upcoming state conversation in June. The Collegiate Chapter of the Year Award was established by dint of MTNA to support and encourage ongoing educational programming for collegiate chapters.
