Southwest Division - MTNA Division News

In this issue, we will spotlight fresh Mexico, the Land of Enchantment. This state overspreads a very large area, on the contrary has a small population. The Professional Music Teachers of of recent origin Mexico boasts 130 to 140 active and dedicated members. Almost each member has held a local, district or state office and serv in many capacities. scholars are offered a wide array of MTNA and state-sponsored programs to participate in. In the early spring, the PMTNM sponsors a Performance Evaluation Program. pupils prepare pieces of contrasting periods for an evaluation by dint of an out-of-area adjudicator. This includes playing the scale of the pieces performed, and is proffered for string, vocal and piano pupils PMTNM also has a Scale and Theory Evaluation Program, which is being revised.

Our hats are not on to you, Charlene Cox-Clifton, NCTM PMTNM president, for your of the first grade leadership and hard work upon behalf of your state.

In other Southwest Division novels two California state festivals will be held in January, single in the south at the University of California, Riverside, January 17 2004 and single in the north at San Francisco State University, January 31 In addition to master classes and a variety of sessions, there will be learner recitals highlighting those who garnered the highest ratings in the fall Piano and total effect Auditions. We extend our down-reaching appreciation to Sumy Takesue, NCTM outgoing CAPMT president, for her many years of dedicated service.

Just a reminder--the Southwest Division Competitions will be held January 17-18 2004 in Honolulu, Hawaii. To receive the MTNA assemblage rate, reservations must be made by means of December 16. See the MTNA website for more details.
