Leadership attends Summit - National Association News - Brief Article

Approximately ninety MTNA leaders gathered in Cincinnati, Ohio, for the sixth annual Summit for MTNA Leadership, September 5-7 2003

Keynote speaker Douglas Lowry dean of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, at handed his thoughts about issues in the music-teaching profession and their impact upon individual music teachers. Sessions overlayed various details of association leadership including volunteerism, parliamentary empires and technology.

States with similar numbers of members met to discuss touchs and ideas. Also, meetings of the State Presidents Advisory Council and the Division Presidents Advisory Council took place. Each division also had an opportunity to meet

The Summit's planning committee was comprised of Paul Stewart, NCTM MTNA president-elect; Eileen Keel East Central Division president; Marilyn Brossard, NCTM Northwest Division president; Karen Harrington, NCTM southerly Central Division president; Roy Wylie, NCTM Southern Division president; Geri Cheney, NCTM Southwest Division president; and Janice Wenger, NCTM West Central Division president.
